Abstract:

At present, many cranes in our country are in the extended service. They make rising & descending, rotating and luffing very frequently. They are in the complex and adverse operating conditions and harsh climate and environment, structure failure and accidents often occurred which will cause serious result. Up till now, they are routinely maintained and breakdown repaired. The device and way for failure detection and repair both need to be improved. In this paper the on-line system of structure health & safety monitoring and warning for cranes is developed with the actual situation based on the research both at home and abroad. The operating conditions, the overall property of the structure, vibration, strains on main nodes and members, and the force in the cable are on-line monitored and warned in order to improve reliability of the structure and reduce security risks to avoid serious accident, and greatly improve the efficiency of loading and unloading.
