Stress Calculation of Pillars in Spherical Tank on Settled Ground

Article Preview

Abstract:

In this paper, the stress of pillars in a spherical tanks on settled ground were calculated, and the effect of pressure and filling level to the stress of shell and pillars of the spherical tanks were analyzed. It showed that while a spherical tank was on settled ground, the loads and stress on every pillars is no longer equal, the pillars which sank more subjected less loads and generated less stress than those sank less ones. The foundation settlement and filling volume had a significant effect on the stress of pillars, but a little effect on the stress of shell. The stress of shell depends mostly on the pressure.
