Enhancing Tower Crane Safety Using Condition Monitoring System

Article Preview

Abstract:

Tower crane is playing a more and more important role in the construction of high-rise buildings. However, crane operators do not acquire adequate conditioning information from tower crane itself to control the tower crane. In order to work safer and more efficient, this paper presents a condition monitoring system (CMS) that provides a solution to receive sufficient information. The CMS can monitor the detailed and comprehensive information, such as lifting moment, swing amplitude and lifting weight, which is related to the safety of tower crane in real time with sense, signal processing and wireless technologies. This CMS aims at degrading the tower crane accidents and protecting the project manager, construction equipment and operators from dangerous situation.
