Study on Stress-Strain Constitutive Relations of Longitidinal Compressing Elm Wood

Article Preview

Abstract:

Through longtitudinal compressing juvenil and mature elm wood after hydrothemal-microwave treatment, stress-strain constitutive relations were established, the results show that at the beginning of compressing, namely, in the elastic region, the curves of stress and strain coincide with Hooke law, in the elastic-plastic region, it also satisfies a linear mechanic relationship. And this paper also analysed the causes of great gap between juvenil and mature elm wood after longtitudinal compressed were due to the different ratio of cell wall to cavity and thickness. A scanning electron microscopy was used to observe the folds of wood cell wall before and after longtitudinal compressed, then the varial law of elasticity and elastoplasticity after compressed were found, also the mechanism of wood longtitudinal compressed was revealed.
