Remote Control of an Agricultural Robot and Tests

Abstract:

To tirelessly perform the farming tasks, the remote control technology is getting more attention in agricultural production. In this work, the remote control for an agricultural robot was implemented, and then performances were tested such as the remote control distance and the tracking accuracy along a straight narrow and long furrow on a flat cement road. The results showed that the remote control distance was beyond 350m with no obstacle and it was down to 150m if there were obstacles like many humans between the remote and the platform. The tracking error becomes larger with the increasing remote control distance, and the suitable distance is less than 30m, at the speed of 1.5 m/s of the platform according to data from an RTK-GPS receiver. It is promising to apply the remote control technology along with the moving agricultural machines or for small-scale agricultural production.
