Abstract: Flexible Manufacturing Systems provide a fast reaction possibility to the changes in production conditions. For achieving a quick responsibility of production, it is necessary to leave the traditional form of production process planning. Nowadays, most of the products are designed by using CAx software. The product design of 3D model contains not only the geometrical data of product, but it may contain a part of the process plan and technological data as well.

Abstract: Given contribution deals with a group technology and methods of classification of the components. Author proposed a component base for CNC processing centre EMCO Concept MILL 105, which is a part of manufacturing system iCIM 3000 by FESTO. Designed manufacturability components are coded and classified based on shape similarity.

Abstract: In this contribution is presented application of evolution diagrams at the assembly process of at the intelligent manufacturing and assembly cell. At this assembly cell was designed new assembly configuration for next research to our department and institute. Intelligent manufacturing and assembly cell is situated at the Institute of Production Systems and Applied Mechanics. The complex design of assembly sequences at the intelligent manufacturing and assembly cell is realized on the basis of evolution diagrams and outgoing from knowledge about intelligent manufacturing and assembly systems. For intelligence increase of assembly process was this cell completed by additional sensors. This assembly process is possible to name intelligent assembly process.

Abstract: This paper essentially emerges from scientific and teaching needs of a university institute while trying deepen into a more formal analysis and/or design process of the material flow and associated manufacturing decisions, e.g.: the layout. Fulfilling such needs, the paper makes allusion to key manufacturing decisions associated to the material flow, while stressing the fact of their mandatory consideration when integrally addressing the primary problem. A partial application of the ideas takes place at a flexible assembly cell of the institute; some of the main results of it are: (1) a more formal description of the whole cell including alternative material flow scenarios, (2) the proposal of a new scenario implying the redesign of the cell conception, i.e.: the layout and thus material flow itself, (3) the simulation and comparison of material flow scenarios selecting the best one in terms of both the MF and layout, among others. At the end, the integration of all these previous elements clearly contributed to the solution of the research’ problem and objectives traced within the frame of the research.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to propose and demonstrate the use of an index for ranking investment in production equipment within manufacturing companies. The construction of the index takes into account multiple criteria and relies on a data envelopment analytical model; some of those criteria are the environmental impacts and product quality. An application to a major Cuban heat interchange battery company is included in the paper in order to better illustrate the use of the proposed tool.

Abstract: Storage is one of the most important parts of logistics, which ensures storage of the products at the place and between the place of production and place of usage. Basic role of storage is equilibration and harmonization of differences among differently designed material flows. Selection of a suitable method, which monitors the storage control, is a main decision of the plant representatives. Each method is suitable for a particular materials and different types of production process. Presently, accent is placed at the modeling and simulation of monitored processes in production system. Main reason for simulation is early identification of problems and deficiencies, which could cause significant problems in a real production process.

Abstract: The paper deals with the clamping fixture jaws procedure design. The clamping jaw design methodology developed summarizes complex factors. These factors affect the clamping jaws design for the workpiece. Methodical design procedure consists of three stages. Namely, there are input date summary, clamping fixture design and the last design verification. The ANSYS simulation was used for the verification developing methodology. The components model simulation aim has been studied impact of clamping force position change to the cutting force reactions change. Research was conducted with different positions of jaws.

Abstract: The quality of products and production processes crucially influences the position of the enterprises on the market. The paper deals with the analysis of the activities of the test station, analysis of operations necessary to carry out the testing, what component is tested and which parameter is evaluated, where the measured values are sent and how is processed the evaluation in the flexible production system iCIM 3000 to be found at the Institute. The result of the project is to analyze the principle and in-process methods of inspection and testing at the station and the principle of processing of the results, which are processed using mathematical and statistical operations. These in-process inspection methods automatically eliminate various influences and factors that negatively affect the accuracy of parts and labor capacity of the machine. It contributes to shortening the preparatory and subsidiary times and the correction of the tool adjustment in the operating position on the machine. It is belonged the automatic modification of part-programs to the functions of an active control.

Abstract: Nowadays, there is a huge emphasis on the development of devices, technologies and process in the industry. Automation helps with it in the considerable degree, because it tries to solve the development of technique, what is characteristic sign of production, assembly, control and another process realization, what eliminates the human intervention and error rates. Automated assembly process consists of the assembly and handling operations of component connecting to the different units and final products, what is equipped with appropriate devices to eliminate the human intervention. One of the most productive solutions seems to be the deployment and the use of robots and manipulators, which realize the technological, handling and also transporting process. This contribution deals with the systematic steps for the selection of the appropriate sensory equipment used in the gripping robotic end effectors, which are characteristic for the assembly system, placed in our department laboratories.
