Analysis for Smart Beam with Secondary Converse Piezoelectric Effect

Article Preview

Abstract:

Based on variational principle, the state-vector equation is established for driving analysis of a laminated beam with piezoelectric actuating layers. The beam are considered as a 2D line solid and the linear element is used. The influence of secondary converse piezoelectric effect (SCPE) on the displacement of the laminated beam is investigated. The state space finite element method is utilized to predict the deflection of the beam considering SCPE or not. If the influence of SCPE is eliminated, the displacement of the clamped beam increase by ∼2.7%. Furthermore, the effects with different PZT/steel thickness ratio considering SCPE are also studied.
