Abstract: This research probes into the application of knowledge based engineering (KBE), including acquision, expression and deduction of design knowledge, in rapid design system. Following the concept of modular design and in accordance with the characteristics of machine tool design, it develops a rapid design system for modular machine tool. The design flow of this system is dominantly top-down. It can inherit and reuse design knowledge and realize rapid design of modular machine tool. System development platform and development tools are introduced in this paper. The system’s efficiency and quality are illustrated by a case design.

Abstract: The study on the calculation of the security of high concrete arch dam based on the finite element method will be studied and analyzed in this paper. For high concrete arch dam deformation and stability under normal water level and maximum flood level will be calculated, and the stress of each section of the dam and batholith around will be checked and analyzed, then this paper will come to the dam security conclusion finally.

Abstract: As a key component of turbine, the surface of turbine blade is usually designed to distorted variable cross-section surface, and the shape is very complex. This paper combines NURBS modeling theory and NC machining method, and use NC machining trajectory generation and simulation analysis by means of UG software. The results show that the method is effective for blade processing, and have a guiding role to the industrial production.

Abstract: The calculation model of motor operating on asymmetric rotor was defined taking a traction squirrel-cage induction motor in Electric Multiple Units (EMU) as sample. Based on the basic principle of numerical analysis, magnetic field in the motor and current in the bar were calculated for both normal motor and broken-bar motor by using the Jmag software, and both the magnetic field variation and current variation in the bar were summed up. According to the EMU’s special control methods, the motor with two broken bars was simulated at different work point, and the characteristic component variation was presented. The works in this paper lay the foundation of diagnosis method for broken rotor bar fault, especially for traction motor in EMU.

Abstract: With the rapid development of economy, dramatic changes have taken place in the highway tunnel industry. However, there is no professional computer aided design software for tunnel design available. Designers tend to spend lots of time to completing the design work. In order to reduce the repeating work of designers, this paper focuses on how to implement parametric design of highway tunnel inner contour with ObjectARX on the platform of CAD. In order to generate inner contour of highway tunnel automatically, parameterized design method is employed. Visual C++ 2010 is chosen as development environment of the computer aided contour design software. With proper control parameters inputted, it generates inner contour of highway tunnel automatically. According to the results, it is a promising approach to improve the design work of high design.

Abstract: The design of a small road surface shot blasting cleaning machine, using the motor driven wheel blasting high-speed rotation, the pellet material (steel shot or sand) at high speed and certain Angle to throw, throw rock formed certain fan type flow, impact to the road to play the role of a blasting and removing the effect of the residue .Then, projectile and dust into the separator, separator will be tiny and dust separation, dust into the dust collector, and the projectile into the shot blasting machine to recycle. Complete road surface shot blasting cleaning machine of shot blasting machine, sand pill purification plant design. By using solid works 3D drawing software of 3D modeling and virtual assembly.

Abstract: This research aims at presenting the airflow simulation within the high speed Hard Disk Drive by installing the device called Spoiler which helps to reduce the airflow velocity before colliding with the read/write head. Due to the high speed airflow within the hard disk drive, it directly impacts on the vibration of the read/write arm and consequently causing the damage and inaccuracy function of the read/write head. The rotational speed of the platter is specified at 20,000 rpm (round per minute). According to this study, the length of Spoiler is divided into 4 values which are 15, 20, 25 and 30 millimeters respectively. Thereafter, apply each length of the Spoiler to the commercial software called Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) by using K-epsilon model. The result shows that the length of Spoiler at 30 millimeters can reduce the average airflow velocity by 57.18%.

Abstract: The spindle motor in a hard disk drive spins at a high rotational speed. These rotations generate air flow and thermal stress. Air flow is induced by the surface roughness of the media that is moving at a high speed through air. This air passes over the surface of many parts in the drive, including the media. Thermal stress is generated by heat in the parts, e.g. voice coil motor, pre-amplifier, slider pole tips, which are heated by electric power and by the spinning of the spindle motor. The air flow and thermal stress cause a change in the media shape called deformation.Simulation results show the trend of deformation has more bending when the slider moves outward from the media axis. The pressure acted more on the underside than on the upper side which caused the media to bend up to the top cover side of hard disk drive. The maximum deformation, 15 μm, occurred at the rim of media while the distance between the media and the slider is 30 μm; thus they did not contact each other.
