Abstract:

As a kind of clean energy with great potential, hydrogen energy has been a hotspot worldwide. Based on the recent research on biohydrogen production, this paper investigated the effects of phosphate buffer solution (PBS:K2HPO4+KH2PO4) to the cell growth and hydrogen production ration to Biohydrogenbacterium R3 sp.nov.. The results found that: the biogas yield, hydrogen yield and specific hydrogen production ration had the maximum of 3860 ml/L, 1832.7 mlH2/L and 2.6324 mmol H2/g•cell•h when the concentration of PBS was 0.15 mol. The pH maintained at 4~5 when the concentration of PBS ranged from 0.01~0.15 mol but the system collapsed when the concentration of PBS exceeded 0.3 mol.
