Numerical Simulation of Cold Roll Forming by the Non-Uniform Finite Strip Method

Article Preview

Abstract:

Cold roll forming is a very complicated non-linear process of geometry, materials and contact. Based on the Updated-Lagrangian method, a theoretical model of the non-uniform finite strip method is presented in this paper. The method is employed to analyze the forming process of U-channel section steel, and the three-dimensional displacement field, the stress field and the strain field of whole process have been established. This research work will lay the foundation for the CAD/CAM high technology of a cold forming roll.
