The Study of Method Preparing Golden Yellow Melted Glass and its Optical Performance

Article Preview

Abstract:

This paper presents the method of preparing a new golden yellow glass with relatively strong absorption of ultraviolet light. This golden yellow glass is to be produced from the glass raw material, Na2O-CaO-SiO2, as fundamental material with addition of cerium(IV) Oxide (CeO2) and titanium(IV) Oxide (TiO2) in combination as colorants. The analysis of spectrum transmittance and chroma Index have been carried out on the plates of this golden yellow glass by light dispersion equipment CARY500. Results indicate that the optical performance and chorma index of this new Golden Yellow melted Glass are largely depended on the factors such as concentration of colorants , oxidizability – reducibility of mixed batch and addition of fluorite.
