Investigation on Knowledge Work Process and its Characteristics Based on Human-Information System (H-IS) Interaction

Article Preview

Abstract:

This paper investigates knowledge work process and its characteristics based on human-information system (H-IS) interaction using concurrent protocol and observation methods. It is found that the ability of knowledge workers to obtain information feedback from information system (IS) is a key factor affecting the information processing speed of knowledge work. Therefore, an enhanced H-IS collaboration reduces the total time of knowledge work and improves knowledge work efficiency. In addition, when IS is applied to semi-structured knowledge work, H-IS interaction has insignificant influence on the quality of the task.
