A method of design process reuse and optimization based on the design process gene is proposed to enhance design efficiency. First, the concept of design process gene is put forward and its structure is disclosed. Second, the design process gene is categorized into three types according to their different roles in expression regulation. Their functions are analyzed respectively as well as their interactions. Third, the principle and procedures of design process reuse and optimization based on the design process gene and genetic engineering is proposed.
