Study on the Heat Sealable Property of Biaxially Oriented Polyester Film

Article Preview

Abstract:

This paper has studied heat sealable properties of biaxially oriented polyester film modified by isophthalic acid(IPA) and neopentyl glycol (NPG). The seal force of heat sealable film under different seal conditions and thermal properties under different IPA proportions were studied by use of electron stretcher, SEM, DSC and so on. The results indicated that when seal temperature was 110°C, seal time was 2.5 s, seal pressure was 400N, the higher seal force was achieved, in which seal layer didn’t contain SiO2. At the same time, seal force increased with the decrease of SiO2 size from 2.5-3.5um to 0.01-0.03um and increased with the IPA proportion from 14% to 18%.
