Development of Acoustic System of Hexahedral Sapphire Abrasive Shock Machining

Article Preview

Abstract:

The sapphire abrasive shock machining is studied on the basis of characteristic of hard and brittle material processing, the acoustic system of processing plant is designed and analysed in theory, the parameter design and computational process are given, the basic dimension parameter of components are calculated, and model analysis is made with CAE software. According to theoretical calculation and analysis result, the transducer, solid horn and tool that the resonant frequency is 20 kHz are manufactured. The resonant frequency of acoustic system is measured by HP4294A Impedance Analyzer, is less 0.019 452 kHz than ideal one and satisfied with design and application requirement. Manufacturing test specimen with assembled acoustic system, and test results show the developed acoustic system can enhance machining efficiency, increase machining accuracy and improve surface quality.
