The Study of Method Preparing blue and green Melted Glass and its Chroma Index

Abstract:

This glass is to be produced from the glass raw material, Na2O-CaO-SiO2, as fundamental material with addition of CuO in combination as colorants. The analysis of Spectrum Transmittance and Chroma Index have been carried out on the different sample plates obtained in the glass melting. The test results indicate that the coloring effects by coloring agent in glass melting are greatly depended on the Oxidizability –Reducibility of mixed batch glass material. In addition, the followings have been also observed during the glass melting: When carbon powder was included and was in the Oxidizability –Reducibility state, it was found that it was difficult to melt the mixed batch glass material and a lot of air bubbles remained in the melted glass; When Sodium Nitrate(Na2NO3) was included and was in the Oxidizability –Reducibility state, it was found the melting glass was less sticky and better clearness of glass achieved. Good and clear test sample plates were obtained in the glass melting.
