Methodology for Closed Loop Control of Heliostat Tracking in a Solar Tower Power

Article Preview

Abstract:

Due to the inefficient utilization of solar energy in a solar tower power plant, this paper presents a new control method of closed loop tracking. With the current widely-used machine vision technology applied in the heliostats control, it is possible to obtain the deviation of heliostat position by image processing. According to the deviation, the controller adjusts heliostat position in order to achieve accurate tracking. The test result shows the effectiveness of the method.
