Analyzing the Influence of Temperature on the Involute Gear Profile with ANSYS

Article Preview

Abstract:

There are always greater differences in ambient temperature when the gear is processed and measured, the temperature difference can cause the change of the tooth profile, and it leads to a result that the measurement data can not truly reflect gear processing accuracy. In order to reduce the influence of temperature on the accuracy of the gear measurement, we analyze the influence of temperature on the gear profile based on ANSYS software. The generalized least squares method (GLS) is used to fit data that is calculated from FEM, and a new involute gear formula is attained. The formula is characterized with temperature-corrected, and its accuracy meets the requirements of gear measurement.
