Preparation and Characterization of Antibacterial Cap-Shaped Gold Nanoparticles

Article Preview

Abstract:

Gold nanocaps were prepared by vacuum depositing gold films onto self-assembled monolayers of SiO2 nanoparticles, and characterized using SEM, AFM and XRD. Its antibacterial activity was investigated. It was found that gold films with cubic structure have completely covered self-assembled monolayers of SiO2 nanoparticles. The gold nanocap, comprising of 20 nm gold film and 450 nm SiO2 nanoparticles, possesses high antibacterial activity.
