The Application of Electroforming Processes in the Mirror Transfer of Living Organisms’ Surface Micro-Structure
Abstract:
Abstract. The research shows that the specific microstructure exists on many organisms’ surface and has specific functions. In order to solve serious energy crisis, pollution problems that the human beings are facing, designing and producing the high performance products with special surface functions have become the hotspot. Two kinds of plant leaves that have specific functions are chose in the paper. Two kinds of plant leaves are the zoysia leaf and pontederia leaf .Two kinds of plant leaves are superhydrophobicity. Through characterizing the surface microstructures of two samples by SEM, two kinds of plant leaves have the specific microstructures. In order to duplicate the specific microstructures, the electroforming processes were used. First, the two plants leaves were coated silver before electroforming. Second, the two plants leaves surfaces that are conductive are electroformed. Finally, the nickel film and the sample surface was separated by thermal expansion and contraction after the electroforming was finished. Then the nickel films with a mirror image structure of the samples surfaces microstructures were obtained. This provides cavities for duplication.
