Stress Analysis of RC Column under the Isolator in the Base-Isolation System

Abstract:

Design of vertical bearing member under the isolation devices needs higher safety reliability in the base-isolation system, which is more important than the upper structure. A method of considering second-order moment caused by superstructure horizontal shift is put forward in this paper, so that to analysis the stress and strain in the FEM of cantilever column under the isolators. Analysis result of the FEM indicates that the method in this paper can effectively balance the decrease of stiffness, which is caused by the shift of superstructure on the isolators
