Novel Economical Chemical Engineering Reactions for Mineralization of CO2 to Combat Global Warming

Article Preview

Abstract:

Utilizing albite as material source, a novel chemical engineering project was proposed to solidify CO2. With potassium hydroxide as the flux, albite was decomposed at temperature of ~320°C after a series of chemical engineering processes. Carbon dioxide was absorbed in sodium hydroxide. The mineralization of carbon dioxide shows the evident safety in a long geological timescales compared with storages of CO2 in deep oceans or deep underground. Moreover, it can provide an advantage in that it would take even no net cost at all.
