Abstract: Corrugated-arch Metal Roof has anisotropic properties because of transverse small corrugations covering the surface of the structure. Thus the panels should be considered as orthotropic plates for more accurate analysis. Based on the principle of stressed skin diaphragm, elastic constants of Corrugated-arch Metal Roof with corrugations are analyzed using equivalent methods; the formulas for equivalent elastic constants are produced and the simplified calculation model is established. The stability of the structure is analyzed and evaluated by use of the finite element method. The results are compared with experimental results, and the method of equivalent analysis is validated. The results indicate that the theoretical bearing capacity is determined by overall stability under full-span and half-span loading without considering the initial defects. Through the equivalent analysis, the length and depth of corrugations are main factors affecting the equivalent elastic constants. Design recommendations are finally presented.

Abstract: Chaos has been studied in power system for the past two decades, chaotic phenomena have been observed in power system, such as chaotic oscillation, voltage collapse, etc. The basic concepts of chaos [1] and its characteristics [2] are introduced simply in this article. The recent chaotic studies and applications are introduced in this paper, including the routes to chaos, the ways applied to control chaos and short-term load forecasting methodology. This article also presents shortcomings and challenges of chaos studies in power system.

Abstract: Since the tribology properties of rough surfaces are closely related to its topography, one of the most important ingredients in tribology research is to find an appropriate tool to analyze and characterize rough surfaces. The elementary theory of contourlet which is a good method for multi-scale and multi-direction signal analysis was introduced and an application of contourlet in rough surface analysis was demonstrated. It was found that contourlet is more sensitive to curved features than general two dimensional wavelets; it is possible to become a new powerful tool for rough surface analysis and characterization.

Abstract: This paper applies the partial least squares (PLS) technique to the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) semiconductor processes under the paradigm of the Advanced Process Control (APC). First, we present a controller called the PLS-MIMO double exponentially weighted moving average (PLS-MIMO DEWMA) controller. It uses the PLS method as the model building/estimation technique to help the EWMA controller to produce more consistent and robust control outputs than purely using the conventional EWMA controller. To cope with metrology delays, the proposed controller uses the pre-process metrology data to build up a Virtual Metrology (VM) system that can provide the estimated process outputs for the PLS-MIMO DEWMA controller. Finally, a Fault Detection (FD) system is added based upon the principal components of PLS, which supplies the process state for VM and the PLS-MIMO DEWMA controller to respond to the system errors.

Abstract: In connection with the low efficiency of traditional design method, case-based reasoning of artificial intelligence was applied in design of precision seeder.Combining with case representing based on characteristic method, determination method for resemblance level of machinery parts characteristics during case retrieval procedure was analyzed. Case-database was organized by MOP. The modified grey relational analysis was employed to calculate the seeder case similarity. A new case retrieval algorithm based on dynamic configuration was proposed. The weight for characteristic properties of the machinery parts was determined through standard deviation method and entropy weight method. Finally, the proposed model was demonstrated by an application instance of 2BQ-2 precision seeder. The results objectively revealed aided design method based on artificial intelligence can improve the design efficiency and shorten the design cycle effectively.

Abstract: Structural strain is one of the important parameters of representing structural health condition. Fiber-optic strain sensors have a number of inherent advantages, such as high sensitivity to external environment, small size, light weight, resistance to electromagnetic interference, ability for absolute measurement, superior stability, easy multiplexing and compatibility of being embedded in structures, etc.. In this paper, a novel strain monitoring method using optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor has been applied to the urban bridge cluster monitoring system, the principle, design and application in the structural health monitoring system are described, two years of normal operation has shown that this kind of strain monitoring and control method is feasible and useful.

Abstract: Traditional medical monitoring devices have some significant limitations for requirements of the aging society because of their complex wires. In order to solve these problems, a remote healthcare system is designed and implemented in this paper. This system consists of a BSN (Body Sensor Network), wireless gateways and a remote database. The BSN is used to expand the mobility of the monitoring devices. The PC-based home gateway is used to receive and display the data from sensors and transmit them to the remote database. In order to expand the mobility of the gateways, An Android based mobile phone is selected as a mobile gateway. At last, a simple web access is provided for the remote healthcare.

Abstract: This paper presents the principle of iron ore reduction measuration system. According to characteristics of temperature developing in experimental, the proper control rules are adopted in different temperature ranges and the self-optimizing algorithm is used in controller design. A new fuzzy controller with self-tuning factor for temperature control system can replace the traditional instrument control device and achieve precise temperature control. The result of experimentation shows that the control system has satisfactory performance with better reliability and efficacy. This method adopted in controller is practical and worthy for reference.
