A Study on Projective Correspondence Model of Camera Calibration in Aerial Photogrammetry

Article Preview

Abstract:

A novel mathematical model of imaging on idealized optical system has been proposed based on the principle of camera imaging. The correlation between the object and image space is analyzed in the established model. The reason for projective distortion is that the inconstant amplification ratio, and is with nonlinear relationship with the tilt angle and filed of view. Concepts of positive projective and negative projective distortion are defined, and a quantitative study has been carried out. The distribution of the projective distortions is provided after analysis. The proposed model has been used to explain the measurement inaccuracy in our aerial photo topography, and to find the essential difference between 2-D projective and affine correspondences in photogrammetry. The mature projective correspondence is successfully adopted to improve our aerial test and measurement precision.
