Article Preview

Abstract:

Based on annual data of GDP and total energy consumption, this paper uses non-parametric additive models to study the linear and nonlinear relationship between China’s energy consumption for environmental protection and economic growth. The empirical results show that the nonlinear effect of growth of energy consumption for environmental protection on economic growth has an "inverted U" shape, this indicates that there exists environmental Kuznets effect of economic growth in China. Some relevant policy suggestions are proposed according to the empirical results finally.
