The Effect of Thermal Aging on Properties of Epoxy Resin

Article Preview

Abstract:

The epoxy resin casting made by RTM process, making use of FTIR, SEM, weight loss, bending strength test and analysis method to study on its thermal aging at 90°C for various durations to see the change of chemical structure, thermal weight loss, microstructure, mechanical property. The results show that: the epoxy resin at 90°C occurs only physical aging, weight loss retention rate exponentially decreased, micro topography showed typical cohesive failure, bending strength exponentially decline in aging, the bending strength retention rate is 93.72% after aging 13d, which indicates this kind of epoxy resin with excellent aging resistance.
