Abstract: The goal of this study is to construct a three-dimensional (3D) finite element model (FEM) of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) knee including bones, collateral ligaments and total knee prosthesis. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) image data of normal knee joint are imported into MIMICS software. The 3D models of bones and collateral ligaments are respectively reconstructed from CT and MRI image data. Then the reconstructed models are registered and fused together based on external landmarks. The virtual osteotomy and total knee prosthesis implantation are performed to establish the 3D model of TKA knee. Ultimately, A elaborate 3D FEM of TKA knee including anatomical structures and total knee prosthesis is obtained by meshing the 3D model of TKA knee and setting material properties, loading and boundary conditions. The obtained von Mises stress on the polyethlene insert confirms to the clincial mechanical distribution characteristics after TKA. The 3D FEM of TKA knee retains the integrity and accuracy in the anatomical features and provides a foundation for accurate research on the TKA knee biomechanical behaviors.

Abstract: In order to synthesize the multi-layer radar absorbing materials (RAM) with a thin thickness and wide bandwidth, accelerating genetic algorithm (GA) with constraints and elitist strategy is employed to design the multi-layer RAM satisfied by a special value of reflection loss to electromagnetic wave. Given predefined available materials with frequency-dependent permittivity and permeability, the GA technique determines the optimal material choice for each layer and its thickness. The algorithm was successfully applied to the synthesis of double-layer to four-layers RAM coatings in the frequency range of 2-18GHz,and the optimization results was evaluated.

Abstract: The governing equation of elastic FGM thin plates was obtained by degenerating the governing equation of viscoelastic FGM thin plates. A Levy solution of a simply supported FGM rectangular plate was gotten. Based on the Levy solution, the influence of considering and ignoring mid-plane stain, due to the inhomogeneous property of the functionally graded materials, on the static responses of the functionally graded materials thin plate is investigated.

Abstract: The governing equation of thermoelastic FGM thin plates was obtained by degenerating the governing equation of thermoviscoelastic FGM thin plates. A Navier solution of a simply supported FGM rectangular plate under thermal loads was get. Based on the Navier solution, the influence of considering and ignoring mid-plane stain, due to the inhomogeneous property of the functionally graded materials, on the maximal deflection and thermal stress of the functionally graded materials thin plate is investigated.
