Abstract: The results of structural and optical investigation of crystalline Si with embedded InSb nanocrystals are reported. These nanocrystals were synthesized in silicon matrix by means of high-fluence “hot” implantation of Sb and In ions followed by thermal treatment. TEM gives an evidence of nanocrystal formation in implanted and annealed samples as well as an existence of microtwins and dislocation-type defects and substantial residual mechanical strains. We have identified nanocrystals as InSb from RS data. Mechanical strains in “silicon – InSb nanocrystals” system have been evaluated, too.

Abstract: A simple and direct method for preparation of thermo- and pH- responsive materials based on starch is presented. Introduction of 2-hydroxy-3-butoxypropyl as hydrophobic group into starch developed thermo-responsive material, and further introduction of hydrophilic carboxymethyl group could produce dual thermo- and pH-responsive materials. The LCST of these starch-based materials can be easily adjusted at desired temperature between 4.5 and 57.0°C by controlling the molar substitution of 2-hydroxy-3-butoxypropyl and carboxymethyl groups. Furthermore, the LCST of 2-hydroxy-3-butoxypropyl-carboxymethyl starch was also highly sensitive to pH.

Abstract: Myristic acid was employed as a new ligand in a facile hydrothermal method to synthesize nanosized nickel phosphide particles with controlled phases at different temperatures. The phases of the as-obtained products were determined by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) patterns. The morphologies of the products were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Experiments indicated that pure Ni2P phase could be prepared at 160°C for 10h when nontoxic red phosphorus and nickel dichloride were used as starting materials in the presence of myristic acid. While pure Ni12P5 phase could be prepared by increasing the reaction temperature to 200°C.

Abstract: All-electric ship is the development direction of ship in future. It’s necessary to do some further microminiature research on the optical current transformer used in all-electric ship. The microminiature research has to face the problem which is the influence of environment changes on mini-optical current transformer’s performance. Base on the theoretical model, the influence of environment changes on mini-optical current transformer’s performance has been studied in this paper. For the impact of environmental factors, temperature field and interference field of optical current transformer have been analyzed in detail. The model related temperature stabilization, anti-magnetic field interference feature, response feature with different magneto-optical material’s length. The optimal solution of the body-efficiency character model has been calculated for the design of mini-optical current transformer.

Abstract: The present research work is focused on fabricating the chalcogenide glass optical waveguides keeping in mind their application in optical communication. The propagation loss of the waveguides is also studied at three different wavelengths. The waveguides were fabricated by dry etching using ECR Plasma etching and the propagation loss is studied using Fabry-Perot technique. The waveguides having loss as low as 0.35 dB/cm at 1.3m is achieved. The technique used to fabricate waveguide is simple and cost effective.

Abstract: The transfer functions of optical notch filters based on all fiber unbalanced Mach-Zehnder interferometer with fiber ring coupled structure and Michelson Gires–Tournois interferometer structure are presented based on z-transform method respectively. On this basis, the structural parameters between the two kinds of notch filters are revealed to have some certain equivalent relations. With this equivalent relationship, the structural parameters for designing one of the two kinds of notch filter can be conveniently obtained by that of the other of the two kinds of notch filters. A design example of a two notch point notch filter using the method is given in detail in the paper.

Abstract: Analysis of fast MOSFET based High voltage switch for High Voltage Electro-Optic Devices is presented. Single MOSFET connection is considered by using Laplace transformation. Based on executed mathematical transforms, directions of improvement ways for typical engineering solutions are analyzed. Improvement directions including fastest operation, optical losses minimization, optical behaviors improvement, cost reducing, size and weight decreasing are considered. Modern Optical Arrangements of an Electro-Optic Shutter Schematic are compared. Different schematic designs of Q-Switch Drivers for Pockels Cell are presented. Parameters of constructed based on presented analysis Q-Switch Driver are given.
