Design and Implementation of a Tunable Optical Delay System

Article Preview

Abstract:

This paper presents the design and implementation of a tunable optical delay system, capable of calibrating the optical signal delay by optical measuring instruments. It is also able to measure the delay by optical communication systems, the laser linewidth, the maximum radius of passive optical networks (PONs) and so on. Structure and implementation method are detailed and results show that it is able to measure the optical signal delay within an error of only +/-0.33ns.
