Numerical Simulation for the Effects of Ice Thickness on the Overhead Transmission Cable Tension

Article Preview

Abstract:

A model of single span overhead transmission cable was established in this paper, based on nonlinear finite element theory, combined with supports displacement method and node equilibrium method, form-finding analysis was carried out for the model of single span overhead transmission cable, the cable tension of model was compared with the theoretical calculation value, and the correctness of the model was verified. Then update cable model was analyzed, the sag, tension and ends tilt of cable under different ice thickness was discussed. This paper provided a reliable method for on-line monitoring the safety of overhead transmission cable in icing conditions.
