Abstract: This paper briefly introduced the composition and properties of brine from seawater desalination plant and mainly reviewed the effect of discharged brine on the marine ecological environment. Then we analyzed the effect of salinity and temperature of brine on plankton, benthos, fish and seagrass. A quantity of discharged brine will cause marine water quality deterioration, make the economic marine species decrease, resulting in the loss of fishery resources and marine economy. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the study and monitoring of marine ecological environment, for maximize reducing the negative influence of discharged brine on the marine environment.

Abstract: The optimized design and layout of diverse flood-discharge devices are of great importance for improving the security and reliability of the dams in hydro-power engineering and minimizing their impacts on the regional ecological environment in environmental engineering. In this paper, various kinds of surface and mid-level outlets configurations are compared under multiple operational conditions for the Baihetan hydro-power project. In addition, both the time-averaged and the instantaneous fluctuation impact-pressure distributions in the plunge pool under typical working conditions are measured and investigated in order to study the reasonability of different flood-discharge layout plans. Moreover, the complex hydrodynamic environment and the spatial evolution of time-averaged flow fields along the downstream river are surveyed and further analyzed. The results could serve as the foundation of selecting the optimal flood-discharge and energy-dissipation design, and, more generally, references for the regional ecological environment assessment for Jinsha River after the construction of Baihetan dam.

Abstract: The economic growth mode of coal resource type cities in China is in an extensive operating way, and resulting in tremendous waste of resources and environmental pollution intensifies. This article analyzed the use of economic theory of externalities of coal mining activities from the point of some relevant environmental economics principles, proposed the urban ecological compensation connotation of coal resource type city, and analyzed the feasibility of the implementation of ecological compensation from economic viewpoint. In this research£¬not only laid a foundation for ecological compensation goals, principles, methods and compensation standards, but also provided an economic reference for building ecological compensation mechanism of coal resource type city.

Abstract: Low-carbon development has become the inevitable choice of China's urban development transformation. However, few researches about the integration of the low-carbon issue and strategic environmental assessment (SEA) have been proposed until now. SEA integrated with low-carbon issues aims to make low-carbon recommendations in the field of urban industrial, energy, transportation, building and living consumption. Based on the discussion, this paper proposed a context-special technological framework of SEA integrated with low-carbon issues.

Abstract: The integration of risk management and climate change adaptation has become an urgent task in addressing increasing disaster risk especially the risk of Coastal Chemical industry more effectively and efficiently. This paper briefly reviews the development and major achievements of extreme disaster risk management, and the evaluation methods of current regional industrial park, presented the iusse of improving the new industrial park safety management system in the context of climate change is pressing and necessary. Finally the problems and blank area exist in current research field, as well as the future research trends and directions were put forward.

Abstract: Application of biochars to soils is suggested as an effective way for improving soil quality and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, which has generated great interest for scientists and policy makers. However, studies of biochar mainly focused on the basic mechanisms of interactions between biochars and soils. The evaluation of macro development prospect of biochar technology in China is much limited. The method of SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat) analysis was used to evaluate the prospect of biochar technology in China. The results indicate that biochar technology has great advantages and potentials in carbon emission reduction, agricultural production improvement, environmental protection and the energy structure optimization. Still, some weaknesses and environmental risk also need to be carefully considered. Finally, some suggestions for the application and promotion of biochar technology in China were provided for development of biochar industry in China.

Abstract: With the increase in demand for electricity in inland provinces because of economic growth, construction of inland nuclear power plant (npp) has become a trend. Inland npps discharge into the water bodies where may be some drinking water sources downstream, so the impact of radioactive liquid effluent released from inland npps is far greater than that come from coastal npps, and it is necessary to know the hydrodynamic characteristics of the water bodies clearly. A proposed inland npp near the Yangtze River and another near a reservoir were simulated by Cormix respectively. Then analyse the simulation results and suggest to use diffusers to help to initial mixing of contaminants in near field.

Abstract: Cutting the external waste loads can improve the water quality. The correlation analysis of discharged pollutant and water quality of the river is useful auxiliary for effective water quality management. ANN models were used to link the NH3-N concentration and emission loads and to predict downriver water quality in planned water quality functional section (WQFS) of Harbin, northeast of China. Besides conventional point and non-point pollution sources, polluted river branches were also considered as an influencing factor for downriver water quality. Downriver NH3-N concentration was predicted based on the loads and upriver water quality by ANN model. In general, it indicates that an acceptable agreement between the observations and the predictions has been achieved. All predicted results and analysis should provide useful suggestion to decision-makers for effective water quality management in the Harbin region.
