Abstract:

As a particular linear element in city space, the street undertakes the functions of passing and interaction. However, in modern city planning, enhanced functionalism leads to overemphasis of the passing function of road while neglects the interaction function that a street intrinsically possesses. This thesis takes Tongzilin Community as an example, the street space of bottom, street facade and spatial scale as the research elements , and aims to reconstruct the community vitality and build a sustainable living environment by creating an integrated, humanized and walkable community space.
