Evaluation on Sustainable Livelihood Ability with a Regional Perspective

Abstract:

Industrial civilization, bringing us spiritual and material wealth, has produced the serious ecological problems. Given the large-scale expansion of human and resource scarcity, the contradiction among population, resources and environment are becoming increasingly conspicuous. We collect data, which is related to sustainable livelihood closely, from the database of National Bureau of Statistics of China. Overall, the development of livelihood ability in China is on the rise. Significant differences of regional economic development, varying greatly among provinces of China, give rise to the different livelihood status. There are many causes for the situation above, including process of industrialization, development of urbanization and structure change of rural population, etc. This article tries to evaluate the sustainable livelihood ability with a regional perspective, which enriches the methods and contents of rural economic problems research. Also, it is exploring the ways to optimizing the configuration mode of resource and improving the ability of sustainable livelihood.
