Emerging Trends in Urban Water Management: A Comprehensive Review of Innovative Approaches and Solutions
Abstract:
Water management in urban areas has emerged as a difficult issue because of the pressures arising from urban sprawl, population increase, and effects from climate change. Urban water management also introduces its readers to the concept of urban water management and focuses on various creative approaches that are being adopted in the sector. This paper argues that conventional water management proves unsuitable for the growing cities across the world pertaining to the developments like aging water systems buildings, pollution of raw water sources, and climate change resulting in unpredictable weather patterns. In response to these problems, new solutions and enabling technologies are starting to be developed, which are currently defining the future of IWM. Some of these are as follows: smart water networks where advanced technology is adopted in the systems to power the network in real-time data monitoring. Other trends include decentralized water systems, nature-based climate solutions, and the circular economy. By identifying a broad range of approaches, ranging from smart water grids to nature-based solutions, it will help to understand how cities can improve water management and make it more resilient and efficient. They said the study would be useful for policymakers, city planners, and researchers’ work to develop water-resilient cities.
