A Method of Chatter Marks Identification Based on Autocorrelation-Threshold

Article Preview

Abstract:

Mill chattering is frequently observed in the strip rolling process which causes dark and bright fringes on the strip surface. Due to the complex vibration sources and the characteristic signals usually masked by the heavy noise signals, how to identify and control the mill chattering are always difficult problems. This paper proposes an autocorrelation-threshold method to extract the periodical components associated with mill chattering and to evaluate the occurrence of chattering vibration. This method is proved to be effective using experimental vibration signals of different rolling speeds.
