Production of Clad Metals Using the Melts-Kiss Method

Article Preview

Abstract:

The melts-kiss method is proposed for producing clad metals made of aluminum alloys via casting. In this method, a molten metal is solidified by another molten metal. AA1050 and A383 alloys were used in experiments. The interface between the two aluminum alloys was clear. The width of the diffusion area of Si was very narrow. The two aluminum alloys were strongly bonded. The melts-kiss method can be adapted for semi-continuous casters to cast clad plates.
