The Use of Metakaolin in the Production of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete

Article Preview

Abstract:

The article provides an analytical literature review on the production of cements and cement materials with active mineral additives. The tendency exists to reduce a clinker component in cement and cement materials via use of blast-furnace granulated slag or other additives; it reduces expenses for cement production and improves performance of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC). Inexpensive and affordable local effective pozzolanic additives can improve the economic and environmental attractiveness of autoclaved aerated concrete production. The performed studies have shown improved physical and mechanical properties of autoclaved aerated concrete with metakaolin, which is a product of low-temperature firing of kaolin.
