Abstract: This study presents an integrated approach to the teaching of surface metrology and the regulation of electrochemical polishing process control parameters. The electropolishing processes permits different ranges of surface finish through different combinations of the process parameters of current density (J) and electropolishing time (t), and students must have a sound knowledge of the procedure for selecting filters (λs, λc, λf). Thus, experimental trials are undertaken to establish the influence of current density (J) and electropolishing time (t) on surface finish by measuring the arithmetic average roughness parameter (Ra), and setting the filters and measurement procedure for each range of surface finish. The integrated learning of both disciplines enables students to consolidate their knowledge on the methodology for measuring surface roughness (Ra), and to establish direct correlations between variation in process control parameters and the surface finish obtained by characterizing the behaviour of the process.

Abstract: This work presents a novel teaching experience in the framework of final master and bachelor theses within the research line on incremental sheet forming processes. This forming process involves a series of competences dealing with manufacturing technology at a wide multidisciplinary level. This paper analyses these different manufacturing topics and the knowledge acquired by students doing their final theses within this field. This knowledge will be very useful during their future professional career.

Abstract: The economic crisis that began in Spain at the end of 2007 and early 2008, which still lasts today, has greatly harmed industry in the country. Many companies dissolved, and many workers who worked for them remained unemployed. But what effect did the financial crisis have on universities Apart from financial problems, they generally have had an increase in the number of students enrolled. Many of them are people who, after becoming unemployed, have decided to take time to improve their academic standing, and thus have more chances of finding a job when they finish. This paper will show how these people, with their knowledge and experience acquired in industry as workers, can add value to the manufacturing processes class.

Abstract: This paper studies the different conceptual approaches that have had the concept of sustainability, for screening at the completion of a proposed sustainable processes engineering of manufacturing as epistemological identity field. This proposal would allow the articulation of an evolutionary form of the potential driver of innovation in teaching practice, research and engineering business of Manufacturing Processes in sustainable social, economic and natural ecosystems. As the deployment proposal that can take innovation in teaching in regards to educational provision, structure and content of the curriculum in professional and university levels, in research programs and explore new business lines.

Abstract: This work aims to generate the digital documentation related to a number of manufacturing processes on different machine tools. The project is developed with the contribution of engineering students doing their final thesis within this field. Different machine tools and machining and incremental forming processes have been virtualized by using the CAD/CAM software CATIA V5. Some of the modeled parts were finally manufactured after checking and post-processing the NC code. Digital documentation is developed on different formats (e.g. photographs, videos, images and simulations) in order to be used as a teaching complement.

Abstract: The purpose of this work is to analyze the methodology developed in the Educational Innovation Project PIE13-025 implementation. The methodology aims to promote the ICT tools (Information and Communication Technologies) use by means of the Campus Virtual platform. The subjects set in which the methodology is applied belongs to the Area of “Manufacturing Engineering”, being all of them taught in the majority of the technical degrees within University of Malaga and Andalusia Tech. When the distinguishing characteristics of these contents have been identified, two specific teaching resources have been considered to be the best of the Manufacturing Engineering: “Thesaurus” and “Graphipedia”. Both can be developed using the Campus Virtual tools and other external applications.
