The methods of reduction modification and current modification are commonly used to the inconsistent MRS in domestic, the modified runoff series will be used to water resources assessment as the basic data, but the methods that used to estimate the consistency of Reduction Runoff Series (RRS) and Current Runoff Series (CRS) is subjective to some extent.
Reduction modification method mainly calculates the variation of surface water resources quantity that influenced by the utilization of human above the certain hydrological station, and the modified runoff series could be named Reduction Runoff Series (RRS).
The statistical regulations, such as the distribution style and parameters (Cv, Cs etc.), are consistent with no alteration in the time scale of the hydrological series and the hydrological data fluctuates in random based on the mean value.
Conclusions Given the importance of MRS/RRS/CRS to the regional water resources assessment and hydraulic engineering design, aim at the subjective and rigorous consistency assessment methods present, with the data of Huayuankou station from 1956 to 2000, the Hydrological Alteration Diagnosis System was used to estimate the consistency of runoff series, with the Hurst coefficient and alteration degree, the inconsistency modification effect of RRS/CRS was analyzed too.
