Numerical impact simulation programs are largely used in civil engineering for structure design and study.
Both experimental campaigns were carried out in the LGCIE (Laboratoire de Genie Civil et d'Ingenierie Enviromentale) laboratory at INSA (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées), Lyon, France.
The calibrated constitutive law of fresh wood and wood-piece/impactor contact model will be used to develop a rock – stem collision model usable for engineering purposes.
