Preface This issue collected some selected tribology and materials research papers from the International Conference on Engineering Tribology and Applied Technology 2016 (ICETAT 2016).
At the same time, the conference represented a unique opportunity for the tribology and engineering community to present their new research results, exchange ideas and become familiar with new trends and directions in the fields of Basic Friction and Wear, Biotribology, Computer-Aided Engineering, Contact Mechanics, Dynamic and Vibration Engineering, Green Tribology and Sustainability, Lubricants and Lubrication, Material Analysis and Examination, Manufacturing Technology, Measurement and Signal Processing Technology, Micro and Nano Tribology, Surface Engineering and Coating, Tribology in Machine Elements, etc.
The papers presented in Journal of Key Engineering Materials were the selected manuscripts associated Tribology and Materials research areas from ICETAT2016.
The other manuscripts associated engineering technology were published in the other profession journals.

Construction Channel Problems for Building Materials and Workers The ultra-soft soil has extreme low strength, so it is impossible for the workers to walk on it and it is very hard to transport the building materials on it.
So the float bridge can remain stable and offer enough channel for workers and transportation of building materials..
The float bridge constructed with foam plastic plates can provide a steady platform for the transportation of construction materials and workers.

Defects due to wrinkling are major quality issues in rapid forming of sheet materials.
Introduction In recent years, the usage of composite materials in automobiles is increasing to reduce the weight of the automobiles.
Currently, the prediction of onset of wrinkles for composite materials is in very early stage of development.

Usually, projects needed to use stone, sand, gravel, cement and other building materials for slope protection as foreign majority and stone for embankment and geotextiles for dams [1-2].
But if the area relative lack of construction materials such as stone, the pipe-bag riding method is the other way in coastal protection and reclamation engineering [3-7].
Then, the material and damming method become the key problem since there is no rock material in the offshore area, the property of sand such as consolidation, shear strength and seepage must be discussed.
