In
the present study, changes in the surface chemistry of enargite in contact with cultures of an Astolerant
strain of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans was investigated using X-ray photoelectron
spectroscopy (XPS).
The oxidation states of As in the enargite sample were analyzed by X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES).

The caculation of the crystal lattice showed that the obtained samples have less N than the targeted composition, and this deviation of the final crystal structure from the theoretical composition was mostly attributed to the low pressure of the nitrogen in milling process.
