Introduction The surface micro-geometry is also called surface micro-topography, which describes the convex peak and valley in different shapes and sizes residual on the machined surface because of the friction between tool and workpiece or tool and chips, the plastic deformation of shear zone and the vibration in the processing system etc. during turning process [1].The surface micro-geometry not only affects the mechanical properties of system such as friction and wear, contact stiffness, fatigue and coordinating characteristic etc., but also influences the performance and life of the whole machine directly [2-4].
