Introduction Advanced optomechatronic systems are characterised by the complexity of their structure that reflects the synergistic integration of solutions developed in the multidisciplinary area of engineering and technology, particularly in mechatronics, optics and optoelectronics as well as in computer-based control systems.
When solving design problems at conceptual and embodiment design stages, more satisfactory results can be obtained using the advanced solution finding methods [7].
Among numerous methods, TOPSIS technique has been successfully applied to solve decision problems in various areas of engineering and management.

Introduction There is intense interest in developing robust micro-electrical-mechanical systems (MEMS) for harsh applications such as chemical and biological sensors, advanced space actuators, etc.
However, the ability to grow the cubic form of SiC, namely 3C-SiC, on Si offers both a low-cost alternative for SiC MEMS coupled with the prospect to use well developed Si micromachining technology and processing to realize advanced, highly robust SiC MEMS devices [4].
