These materials have low specific gravity that makes their properties particularly superior in strength and modulus to many traditional engineering materials such as metals.
The importance of composites as engineering materials is reflected by the fact that out of over 1600 engineering materials available in the market today more than 200 are composites [4-6].

But one shortage of the porous ceramics is that the strength decreases exponentially with the pore volume ratio [6].
On the basis of the present work, HAP/CaSO4 and β-TCP/ CaSO4 composite ceramics are prepared.

Generally the lower the cost of the brake pads, the faster wear. The friction block of the brake pads, according to their components are divided into the following categories: asbestos brake pads, semimetal brake pads, less metal brake pads, NAO formula brake pads, ceramic brake pads and NAO ceramic brake pads.
At present semimetal ceramic type friction materials without asbestosis are mainly used in electric vehicle brake pads.
