When the stress in the sample reaches the maximal value σ*, the sample quickly starts to loss of load capacity due to the formation of micro and macro defects, which leads to the significant reduction of stresses and the further increase of the deformation.
The observed effect can be predicted using the incubation time criterion, and obtained theoretical curves are in good agreement with the experimental data.
