To resolve this problem scientists proposed a high- κ material with a thin SiO2 layer to have an initial large band offset in high-κ/SiO2/SiC structures.
MOSCAP structures.
(b) Cross-sectional TEM image demonstrating the thickness of the HfO2\SiO2 stack in the MOSCAP structures.
Additionally, the high density of near-interface traps in the conduction band does not affect channel current, further improving the performance of 3C-SiC MOS structures compared to 4H-SiC.

The main factor controlling the resistance of mortars against sulphate attack (and also carbonation)
is the chemistry of their binder and the pore-space characteristics [7].
Surface SEM micrographs of Ca(OH)2 surfaces on intact mortars: (a) apparently amorphous structure; (b) apparently amorphous structure with micro- and nanometric particles of Ca(OH)2; (c) porous agglomerations of Ca(OH)2 crystals; (d) Si layer with dehydration cracks.
Cross sections of intact mortars allowed us to distinguish two types of mortars regarding their internal structure.
In this case lumps (lime lumps sensu stricto) are frequently observed as rounded porous structures, appearing distinctly in the mortar matrix.
The studied sulphation layers show porous structures frequently filled with gypsum sheetlike crystals.
