The surface density of ssDNA immobilized on gold surface was calculated from the reduction charge, integration of the cathodic peak around -1.3V in the first voltammetric scan, which was varied in the range of 14.9-50.3 molecules per 100 nm2 on Au surface.
Therefore, the surface density of dsDNA on Au surface of the extended gate of FET could be evaluated to be 1.22 ×1012 molecules/cm2, equal to more than 1 dsDNA molecule per 100 nm2, which was in well consistent with the data of about 1 ~ 4 DNA molecules per 100nm2 on Au substrate reported elsewhere [9], indicating that the EGFET was a promising sensing element for biochip.
