Introduction Many researches and developments are now conducted to improve the durability of silicon-based ceramics and composites [1,2].
Some plasma-sprayed films of rare-earth silicate, such as (i)3 different composition powders of�Lu2O3-xSiO2, (ii)�33mol% Y2O3-67mol% SiO2 and (iii) oxide ceramics such as ZrO2-8%Y2O3 and ZrSiO4, were selected to evaluate the adaptabilities as topcoat candidate materials.
