As we know, bush-burning is one of the main forms of the engine failure or even damage due to the Inadequate supply or partial lack of oil between crankshaft main journal and crankshaft bearing as well as the rod journal and rod bearing in a high temperature and high speed working environment.
Using the default solver of FLUENT, and setting the operating pressure to a standard atmospheric pressure, without considering the acceleration of gravity, choosing engine oil from FLUENT material library as the fluid, setting the initial temperature to 25℃, taking the energy equation into consideration and based on SIMPLE algorithm, then conduct the flow field simulation.
Compared to the flow field of the clearance between rod journal and bearing shell, the effective flow cross-sectional area is enlarged because of the tank between the crankshaft main journal and bushing, so that the overall average oil flow velocity becomes larger, majority of the oil flows directly along the tank with little from the major arc.
